Manifest This

I teach about artist Manifestos in my Contemporary art course. Artists rebelling and organizing for change and action. Artists declaring actions and guidance for fixing society and systems. Manifestos insight passion, give hope, promote taking back the power from oppressive ruling systems. They balance, seek to calm (while first creating chaos). In the same way I had to make my basement really messy, in the process of cleaning and decluttering, the tide churns up the sand before the tide recedes.

I bought a really rad cardigan on my recent trip to Italy. Bright white, covered in loud, bold letters, firmly sewn, with confident frayed ends. I love it, but needed to know it didn't spell out something stupid. The designer of that Desigual sweater did not let me down. It spelled MANIFESTO. Sold.
